Esta es la única foto que tengo de toda la familia junta: Papa-Arturo, Mama-María, yo-Miguel el grande, Virginia en medio, Arturo Jr. a la derecha y mi hermana Carmen la pequeña.  La foto fue tomada por Isidro Flores de Asherton mientras nos visitaba en Gervais, Oregón.

We are also offering an annual scholarship to help promote an appreciation for school, motivate students to explore a post secondary experience and to engage is some type of research to help them understand how and why a community evolves.  To put this statement in perspective imagine- I graduated in 1966 and was the first Mejicano.  Today, about 65% of the student body comes from homes/families of Mexican roots.  My wife Lidia and I are blessed and privileged to have this opportunity and we do it to COMMEMORATE our parents:  Arturo Flores Salinas y Maria Salome Amezcua; my parents and her parents; Leon Meza Saldana and Felicitas Guerrero. 

TIENES TU CASA EN OREGON

Father time and our health remind all of us of the short-lease we have in this planet.  As a historian, I am reminded of this almost daily.  The Bustamante’s are welcome to Oregon and using the refrain “Mi casa es tu casa” it would be our privilege if you could make West Linn your destination next time you come up and visit Lalo.  Lidia is a great cook and I am good behind the wheel.

GRACIAS A PAPA Y MAMA que vinieron a Oregón hace 60+ anos.  Su destino originalmente no era Oregón sino Washington.  Como buen navegante y detector de trabajo la voz de papa y los cuatro hombres solos: Manuel García, Santos Vásquez, Cleofás Cruz y Arturo Salinas que viajaban según la historia migratoria y los recuerdos de Crucito y Lalo, tus hermanos formo una base de confianza para que múltiple familias de Asherton navegaran  al Valle más bello de Oregón- El Valle Willamette y en particular Marion County.
