BUSTAMANTE

This was one of the campsites where Chico’s Family lived.

Las manos de Alberto and his brother Freddie are clutched together as they recite the Lord’s Prayer at Amelia’s Funeral.

Agricultural work was part of everyones life upon arriving to Oregon.  The siblings were hard working, attended school graduated, have raised their family and are proud to have grand children and great granchildren.

The migratory cycle in the early years concluded with the hop harvest.  It was the last chance to make a few dollars to return home or for some families to go onto the next harvest or season in another state.  The previous two photos show Chico in the Hop field along with Jane and Frank; it seems that the hop combine is being repaired.  Although it was hard work it also provided a lot of opportunity for family bonding.
