BUSTAMANTE

In 1992 when I met with Amelia to talk about old times she was working on a quilt.  I am blessed to have had a brief “plάtica” con Doňa Amelia Bustamante!

A book can easily be written about this special family.  I am hopeful that Amelia’s large circle of family can help recount a special journey.  A half century and more about LA VIDA EN OREGON Y LA DESPEDIDA DE ASHERTO- “CHETO”- TEJAS

In May 2002 at the first “Pioneros de Oregon” reunion Miguel Program Founder and Director presents Amelia with a plaque of “Familia Pionera.”  Amelia is accompanied by her son Freddie.  Her son Henry is in the background looking in and so is one of ther nephews from the Garza Family.  The fellow in the hat is Julian Ruiz.

Ten years previous to this event, I had the privilege of visiting with Amelia.  Part of our conversation was “Life in Oregon in the early years” and sharing my dream to organize a REUNION!
